CSA Handbook
Welcome to our farm family! We're looking forward to growing delicious, organic vegetables for you this season, and teaching you how to eat them! We want to empower your family to eat more vegetables and become a “master” in the kitchen. We ask all CSA Members to carefully review our CSA Handbook to prepare for the season and thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Pick Up Procedures
Your share will be delivered to your pick up site in a durable red plastic box with a separate lid. These containers should remain at your pick up location (do not take them home). Please bring your own bags and pack your share to take home. Extra bags will be provided in case you forget your bags. A sign out sheet will be posted at your site, please check off your name to verify your pick up. Yellow boxes will be labeled with your name if you have placed a special order in the online farm store. Otherwise, you will pack your produce from one of the unlabeled red boxes. These procedures help us conserve resources and improve our product quality.
Delivery
As a CSA member it is your responsibility to pick up your weekly share of produce from your chosen pickup location during the designated time frame. The sooner you can pick-up your share, the better the condition your produce will be found. If shares are picked-up later than the designated time frame, the farm is not responsible to replace spoiled or wilted produce.
Your box will be at the specified pick-up location on the designated delivery dates and time. Your box is guaranteed during pick-up hours. If you do not pick up during designated hours, your box is left to the host’s discretion. Each delivery site runs
differently, so you will need to coordinate directly with the host to make any special arrangements.

Simply log-in to your online account and change your delivery site. Make sure to change it back to your original site after your delivery, if that's your preference.

Personal Account & Payment
Becoming a CSA member means you commit to support Root 5 Farm operations by prepaying in exchange for a share of the harvest. The value of your CSA membership includes the sum total of produce you receive, along with administrative and delivery services. We accept checks mailed to the farm or electronic check ACH payments (direct debit from your bank account) over the internet. You may choose to pay for your CSA share all at once or in installments. No refunds are given for CSA shares.
We use an online system powered by Farmigo to process your CSA Memberships. You will create your own personal account on this system, track and make payments, place special orders from the online farm store, set up vacation dates, change pick up locations, change your contact information, and renew your membership from year to year.

Communication
Root 5 Farm sends a weekly email before the boxes are delivered. We will let you know what will be in your box that week and any delivery details associated with your site. By agreeing to join our CSA, you are also agreeing to open and read email communications from us. If your email address changes, you will need to make the change to your online CSA account.

Vacation Credit
If you're unable to pick up your weekly CSA share, you are responsible for making alternate arrangements. One option is to ask a neighbor, friend, or family member to pick up the box for you. Another option is to set up a vacation hold, using your online account, at least three days in advance of your regularly scheduled delivery date. You'll receive a vacation credit and you may select another week during the season to receive a double share. Requests for a double share must be made by emailing Danielle at least three days prior to the desired delivery date. You can set up as many vacation holds as you need throughout the season, as long as you follow these procedures. Vacation credit must be used by the end of the CSA membership season. Failure to make arrangements in advance for a missed pick-up will result in forfeiting the share.
Online Root 5 Farm Store
You can purchase additional produce to have delivered with your regular weekly share through our online farm store. The deadline for placing special orders is 8am the day before your delivery. This allows enough time to harvest your extra items for packing and delivering your special order. Payments for the online farm store are made online by electronic check at the time a special order is placed.
Product Guarantee
All weekly produce shares will be delivered freshly harvested and thoroughly washed. You will be responsible to wash your produce again before eating.
The contents of our boxes are guaranteed. If for any reason, you are unhappy with the quality of an item, we happily offer credit at our online store for a replacement. Since we are dealing with highly perishable items, there is bound to be spoilage at one time or another. We invite members to give us feedback about box quality and contents at any time by emailing us at danielle@root5farm.com. When reporting quality issues, please include when and where you picked up your box and how you're storing the produce.

Refunds
As a CSA member, you are committing to secure a market for the farmer and to share with the farmer in the bounty or loss of each season’s yield. CSA Members understand that the farmers do all they can to assure a full harvest and that some conditions are beyond the farmer’s control. No refunds are available.
